This speech gained attention because it considered the impact that was made in the countryââ¬â¢s history. The content of Abrahamââ¬â¢s speech delivers the standards a nation should stand by. He addressed equality among men. He stated that ââ¬Å"now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. I think Abraham intentionally sought to get everyoneââ¬â¢s attention on the realities of our government standing by certain freedoms that were imposed. The Gettysburg address demonstrated t he importance of equality among men and emphasized on the independence of the United States. ââ¬Å"God shall have a new birth of freedom-and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from earth. ââ¬Å"This is the overall basis of what Abraham wanted to tell, equality is the best policy.
